This mum came back to Noosa Photography Co for the third time. First pregnancy, first newborn and now a toddler on the beach and a second bump glowing in the last of the golden hour light. The little girl who was once the newborn is now the one running into the shallows, pointing at the sky and standing facing her mum with the whole sunset behind her. That wide shot of the two of them is one of our absolute favourites from this session.
When the Toddler Becomes the Session
There is no controlling a one year old on a beach at sunset. There is no asking them to stand still or look at the camera or stop trying to eat sand. And that is precisely what makes these sessions so extraordinary.
The toddler running ahead and turning back to check mum is following. The little hands reaching up to touch the bump with a curiosity that is completely her own. Mum crouching down in the shallows, bump out, laughing at something only the two of them understand. These are not directed moments. They are completely real and they are the ones that matter most.
Baby and belly sessions work best at golden hour on the beach. The light is soft and warm, the toddler is distracted by the water and the waves and the whole session has an energy that a posed session simply cannot replicate.
