Noosa Photography Co ~ Family Photographer Noosa Hinterland
Family photographer Noosa hinterland sessions look nothing like a beach session and that is entirely the point. Golden paddocks, tall gum trees, a dam catching the last of the afternoon light. The kind of landscape that the Sunshine Coast does beautifully and that most photographers never take their clients to.
This session was with Ella Woodborne, one of the Sunshine Coast’s most recognised young environmental advocates, at her family farm. Ella helped bring UNESCO Biosphere status to the Sunshine Coast and has represented the world’s youth on UNESCO’s global environmental panel. Someone who grew up in the South African bush with parents working in conservation and who has spent her life advocating for the natural world. Coming home to the farm with her mum, her sister and her stepdad and being photographed in the paddock they know felt exactly right.

Family Photographer Noosa Hinterland ~ Why the Hinterland Works
The hinterland gives a family session a completely different quality from anything the beach delivers. The light filters differently through trees. The colours are warmer and earthier. The space feels private in a way that a public beach never quite does.
For families who feel more at home in nature than on a crowded stretch of sand, the hinterland is worth considering. It produces images that are completely distinct from the typical Noosa beach session and that distinction is something to lean into rather than away from.
Ella’s family are not a beach family. They are a paddock and gum tree family. The session reflects that completely and the images are all the stronger for it.

Family Photographer Noosa Hinterland ~ A Blended Family Session
This was also a blended family session which brought its own particular dynamic. A stepdad who is genuinely camera shy, a family who arrived apprehensive and left completely themselves. That shift from nervous to relaxed to genuinely enjoying the afternoon is something that shows in the images and it does not happen without patience and the right kind of presence on the day.
The warmth, the encouragement, the way the session was made to feel casual rather than like a photoshoot. By the end even the most reluctant family member was in it completely.

What Ella Said
“My family is very photo shy and my stepdad is particularly camera shy, so I was a little nervous about how it would all go. Noosa Photography Co put everyone at ease immediately. The warm and friendly manner, the encouragement, the way the whole thing was made to feel casual rather than like a photoshoot. Even my stepdad got through it and actually enjoyed himself.
I had a clear idea for what I wanted from this session and the subject focus and ethos behind the work suited that perfectly. We are so thrilled with the photos. Better than anything I could have imagined and I was so excited to finally have proper images of our blended family together. In one word? AWESOME. My family is so happy and we cannot thank Noosa Photography Co enough.”

Where do hinterland family photography sessions take place near Noosa?
The Noosa hinterland and surrounding areas offer paddocks, dams, gum trees and open farmland that photograph beautifully at golden hour. The right location is always discussed before the session based on what the family wants the images to feel like.
Is the hinterland suitable for all families?
Yes. It suits families who feel more at home in nature than on a beach, or who simply want something that looks completely different from a typical Noosa session. The images have a warmth and a quality that is entirely their own.
What time of day works best for a hinterland family photography session?
Late afternoon when the light comes through the trees and hits the paddock at that low angle. The colours in that window are extraordinary and the images from this session show exactly what it can produce.
Can blended families book a hinterland session?
Absolutely. Every family is welcome and every session is built around the people in it. The goal is always images that look like the family actually is, wherever they feel most themselves.
