Noosa Photography Co ~ Makepeace Island Noosa Photographer
As a Makepeace Island Noosa photographer, there are not many locations that stop you in your tracks before you have even lifted the camera. Makepeace Island is one of them. A 25 acre heart shaped private island on the Noosa River, originally developed as a retreat for Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Australia co-founder Brett Godfrey, Makepeace Island has grown its ownership family over the years and remains one of the most exclusive and private venues in Australia. It sits just five minutes upstream from Noosa Heads and exists in a world entirely its own.
Noosa Photography Co has had the privilege of working on Makepeace Island on more than one occasion. A family session with Australian beauty entrepreneur Natalie Bloom, founder of the globally recognised Bloom Cosmetics. A private event bringing together some of Australia and the world’s most significant leaders across technology, environment, defence and Indigenous culture. And other sessions that remain entirely private at the request of the families involved.

Makepeace Island Noosa Photographer ~ The Island
Makepeace Island is not a location you can simply book and show up to. Access is by private boat. The island accommodates up to 22 guests in three two bedroom villas and the Bali House. There is a lagoon pool, a theatre, a Balinese wantilan and the kind of stillness that only comes from being surrounded by water with the rest of the world genuinely out of reach.
For photography the island offers an extraordinary variety of backdrops. The riverside gardens. The tropical Balinese architecture. The pool. The natural bushland walking trails. The river itself. Every corner of the island has a different quality of light and a different feel and a session here never runs out of locations.

Makepeace Island Noosa Photographer ~ The Family Session
Natalie Bloom, the founder of Bloom Cosmetics, brought her family to Makepeace Island and chose Noosa Photography Co to document it. Bloom Cosmetics earned cult status globally in the 1990s, stocked at Sephora, Harrods and Bloomingdale’s and championed by some of the world’s most recognised names. The family session on the island had the same quality as the brand. Considered, natural and completely without pretension.

What the client said
“We love the work at Noosa Photography Co. Simple, relaxed and clean images that came highly recommended by people we trusted. The phone consultation beforehand helped clarify everything and the whole shoot was very well managed from start to finish. Directive when it needed to be, which made a real difference with such a big group, and efficient throughout without ever feeling rushed. When we first saw the finished photographs it was such a great feeling. Every single image hit the nail on the head. The perfect results, delivered exactly as promised.”

Makepeace Island Noosa Photographer ~ The Event
The event Noosa Photography Co documented on Makepeace Island was the EarthTech Summit. EarthTech is a global social enterprise working to mobilise the resources needed to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The summit brought ten finalist teams from Uganda, Nigeria, India, the Philippines, Australia and Bangladesh to Makepeace Island to pitch their solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental and social challenges to a room of leading experts, investors, business leaders and academics.
The guest list included senior figures from the Australian Defence Force, technology leadership and the corporate sector alongside global change makers whose work spans climate, poverty, food security, biodiversity and sustainable housing.
The Welcome to Country was performed by Lyndon Davis, a deeply respected Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi Elder, artist, musician and cultural leader. The Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi people are the Traditional Custodians of the Sunshine Coast and Noosa region, with a connection to this Country spanning tens of thousands of years. Having Lyndon open an event of this global significance on this island, on this Country, was not a formality. It was an act of genuine respect and it was documented with the same care and intention as every other part of the day.

Discretion as Standard
Makepeace Island attracts people who value privacy above almost everything else. Families who simply want to be together without interruption. Leaders who need a space where the world cannot reach them. Creatives and change makers who come to think, connect and celebrate away from public life.
Noosa Photography Co has worked alongside some of Australia’s most recognised families and individuals in private settings. Not all of it can be shared and none of it ever will be without explicit permission. What can be said is that the calibre of client who chooses Makepeace Island expects a photographer who understands discretion as completely as they understand light and composition. That is exactly what Noosa Photography Co brings.
