Noosa Photography Co ~ Natural Newborn Photos

Natural newborn photos capture something you simply can’t get back. The first days go so fast it’s almost unfair. One minute you’re completely in awe of this tiny person, and the next you’re wondering how they got so big so quickly. This is exactly why newborn photography is worth doing early, while everything still feels brand new.

There are two ways we approach newborn sessions and both have their place.

Lifestyle newborn photography is all about real moments. The 3am feeds, the first cuddles on the couch, the way dad looks at his baby when he thinks nobody is watching. These images are unposed and unfiltered, and they’re often the ones families treasure most years down the track.

Posed newborn photography is the specialised work you’ll see throughout our portfolio. Tiny babies curled and wrapped in soft textures, peaceful and settled. This kind of photography takes experience and patience. Safety is everything when you’re working with clients this small, and every pose is planned carefully with your baby’s comfort front of mind.

Most families choose a mix of both. We follow your baby’s lead and take all the time needed. There’s no rushing a newborn session.

If you would like to see more of our maternity & newborn work or find out about pricing and packages, visit our maternity & newborn photography page. You can also read what our clients say on our testimonials page or on Google. And if you are looking for a gift for a growing family, a photography gift voucher is one of the most thoughtful things you can give.

Newborn Photography Questions Answered

When is the best time to book a newborn photography session? Book during your pregnancy, ideally around 20 weeks. Newborn sessions work best in the first 14 days after birth when babies are still very sleepy and curly, so having everything confirmed before your due date means one less thing to think about when baby arrives.

How long does a newborn session take? Usually one to four hours. Babies feed, need settling and require breaks between poses. We never rush the process and work entirely around your baby’s needs on the day.

What should I bring to a newborn photography session? Just your baby, your feeding supplies and anything that helps them feel settled. We take care of everything else including wraps and backdrops.

Is posed newborn photography safe? Yes, when done by an experienced photographer. Every pose used at Noosa Photography Co is chosen with your baby’s safety as the first priority. We never force a pose and always ensure your baby is comfortable and secure.

Do I need to do anything to prepare my newborn for the session? A feed just before arriving helps as a full, sleepy baby makes for the best photos. Keep them in their onesie on the way so they stay settled, and try not to stress if they’re unsettled on arrival. It always comes together.
