Mooloolaba Spit is one of those Sunshine Coast locations that photographs differently to anywhere else on the coast. The sand is wide and pale. The water sits calm on the river side and open on the ocean side. The Mooloolaba skyline sits across the water as a backdrop that is distinctly Sunshine Coast without being too busy or crowded.
The canopy was set up on the sand with white draped fabric, a low timber table, a rattan basket, white florals and champagne. Every detail considered. The whole thing looked effortless and was anything but.

The Moment
She walked toward the setup and took it all in. Then he got down on one knee with the canopy framing them above and the water stretching out behind him.
He opened the ring box. She said yes. The engraved wooden keepsake he held in those first frames had their names and their date on it. A date that now means something entirely different to both of them.
After the Yes
The portraits that followed had that particular quality that only comes in the moments after an engagement. Still slightly disbelieving. Looking at the ring. Looking at each other. Laughing at nothing in particular. Walking the shoreline at the Spit with the light on the water and the whole Sunshine Coast laid out around them.
The champagne was opened under the canopy. The ring caught the light every time she moved her hand.
